Costs people forget
Arrival-day transfers, cash for park vehicles and site tickets, laundry, SIM cards, tips, and one extra night when the sea or the hills refuse to cooperate.

Cards work in Colombo, Kandy and Galle; cash rules elsewhere. Tell your bank before you travel and carry rupees for buses and small tickets.
