A week means choosing. This route drops the east coast, Yala and the north; if safari matters more than beaches, swap day 7 for Yala.

Day by day

  1. Day1

    Arrive Colombo → Sigiriya

    Airport transfer north, settle in.

    Pre-arrange the transfer; do not negotiate at the arrivals hall.

  2. Day2

    Sigiriya

    Rock at dawn, Pidurangala in the afternoon.

    15–30 minutes
    Overnight:
    Sigiriya

    Two tickets are needed for both rocks.

  3. Day3

    Sigiriya → Dambulla → Kandy

    Cave temple at Dambulla en route; evening puja in Kandy.

    Cave temple visit needs covered shoulders and knees.

  4. Day4

    Kandy

    Temple of the Tooth, lake walk, Peradeniya gardens.

    Keep this day light — the train follows tomorrow.

    Kandy → Ella

    The hill-country railway.

  6. Day6

    Ella

    Little Adam's Peak at sunrise, Nine Arch Bridge, Ravana Falls.

    Ella

    Start early; afternoon cloud is common.

  7. Day7

    Ella → south coast or airport

    Coastal transfer for a final beach night, or straight to the airport.

    Galle or Colombo

    Allow a full day if you have an evening flight.
